1. License
LifeOS is licensed under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software, subject to the terms of that license, which include preserving the copyright and permission notice. The full text is available here and in the project’s source repository.
2. Acceptable use
You agree to use LifeOS lawfully and not to:
- use it for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- use it to infringe the rights of others or to send, store, or process content you are not authorized to handle;
- attempt to use the software to circumvent the access controls or terms of any third-party service, including OpenAI and Google.
3. Your responsibilities
Because LifeOS runs on your device and uses your own accounts and keys, you are responsible for:
- keeping your device and your Windows user account secure;
- the safekeeping and use of any API keys or credentials you add (for example, your OpenAI API key and Google credentials), and any charges they incur;
- reviewing reminders, answers, summaries, and other outputs before relying on them - Yogi can be wrong, and reminders only fire while LifeOS is running;
- maintaining your own backups of any data you consider important.
4. Third-party services
Optional features connect to third-party services using credentials you provide:
- OpenAI - cloud chat, speech, voice, and web-search features use your own OpenAI API key. Your use of those features is also governed by OpenAI’s terms and policies, and OpenAI bills you directly.
- Google / Gmail - the optional email feature uses read-only access to your Gmail via your own Google Cloud credentials and is governed by Google’s terms.
LifeOS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI or Google. Those services are provided by their respective owners, and their availability, behaviour, and pricing are outside our control.
5. Downloads & installation
Always download LifeOS from the official source linked on this website. The current installer is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may display a warning during installation; this is expected. We are not responsible for copies of LifeOS obtained from other sources, which may be modified or unsafe.
6. Intellectual property
The LifeOS name, the “Yogi” assistant name, the logo, and the visual design of this website are the property of DreamNotion. The software’s source code is made available under the MIT License as described in §1. Third-party components are the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licenses.
7. Disclaimer & no warranty
LifeOS is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reminders will always be delivered - for example, reminders do not fire while the application is fully closed or your computer is off.
LifeOS is a productivity tool. It is not a medical, legal, financial, or emergency service, and its outputs should not be relied upon as professional advice.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall DreamNotion or the contributors to LifeOS be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, missed reminders, or third-party charges (including OpenAI usage fees), arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the software. This is consistent with the MIT License under which LifeOS is provided.
9. Privacy
Your use of LifeOS is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains that LifeOS stores your data locally, uses no telemetry, and only contacts external services when you enable an opt-in feature with your own credentials.
10. Updates & changes
LifeOS does not update itself automatically; new versions are obtained by downloading them. We may revise these terms for future versions of the software or this website. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
